Expanding Experience Opportunities

The leadership of Canada's CA profession remains committed to securing the future supply of CAs by enabling more of the "best and brightest" students to enter the profession. The Councils of all Provincial/Bermuda Institutes/Ordre of Chartered Accountants have approved, changes to the experience requirements for qualifying CAs.

These changes will allow students to gain experience in the traditional public practice stream but also open up other areas in professional services firms as well as selected opportunities outside public practice. This will be particularly attractive to small/medium sized CA firms, and to a select group of leading corporations and public sector organizations which employ large numbers of CAs and have established training infrastructures.

The proposed changes will maintain the excellence of all our admission and qualification standards. In addition, all international criteria for mutual recognition agreements will continue to be met.
