Clearly, the course to a career as a chartered accountant is a challenging one. The basic requirements to earning the right to use the designation of C.A. include attaining a university degree, completing a training period with an approved employer and passing pre-professional and professional courses as well as the Uniform Evaluation. You can see an overview of the UFE results as well as ASCA exam results on our Website.

CA is a challenging career.Candidates entering the ASCA program are awarded exemptions from the School's required 16 courses, depending on their previous study. Students with a major in accounting may qualify for up to 10 exemptions. Students from disciplines such as law, engineering, the sciences, the arts, education and other fields will also qualify for certain exemptions from the program. Their varied backgrounds are highly desirable to the profession and therefore attractive to potential employers.

Individuals interested in pursuing a career as a chartered accountant must be employed by a CA training office. Such positions are generally filled in the fall of the year. Typically, approved offices with available positions recruit on the university campuses with the assistance of campus employment centres. Contact your local Institute of Chartered Accountants for a listing of approved offices.

The training students receive while employed is an integral part of the education process and sets the C.A. designation apart from other career choices. Students are exposed to a variety of experiences in their everyday work, providing the opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques stressed in the School.
